1. Provide multiple ways to communicate with instructor. -- email, skype, phone calls, synchronous sessions 2. Respond promptly to communication. -- answer emails in a twenty-four hour time frame; grade assignments in 48 hour time frame. 3. Plan office hours and synchronous sessions -- plan different times of the day to accommodate(i.e. morning, noon, evening) 4. Consider distractors while planning -- plan engaging presentations, study guide expectations 5. Show human side -- share relatable personal experiences, plan interactive activities, communicate often
Plan of action: I plan to engage students by providing engaging presentation, constant communication, planned and unplanned feedback. I design lessons that have structure that allows opportunities to explore freely. There will be microlearning ; so, students are not overwhelmed with information. I will provide office hours that are scattered through out the day; so, students will find a time convenient for them to contact me. I will plan weekly synchronous meeting through out the day that student can fit into their schedule. I will record all session ; so, students can view them later if they are unable to attend. I will share appropriate, relatable personal experiences with students and plan Q&A polls to get to know my students.
To prevent burnout I will get plenty of rest. I will stick to a routine. I will plan time to do something fun at least once a week. I will tryout new ways to present information. I know that I am excited to try all the sites I have found during this class. I think presenting in new ways is going to keep me busy for a while in preventing burnout.
